Comments by participants in past Institutes:
- The personal testimonies are amazing.
I will cherish and share their stories. This
week I realized that my grandchildren, maybe even my children, will not
have the chance to hear the story in person.
- Survivors made the class very
meaningful. I could not help tearing up as
I was listening to their experiences.
- It has opened my eyes and my heart to
the injustices we inflict on each other.
- I was struck this week by my personal
responsibility to educate about the Holocaust.
- The read-alouds and the curriculum
applications were the most helpful tool in choosing ways to present
classroom lessons.
- There was continuous reference to
classroom application. The participants
teach a wide range of grades, and no one was left out.
- Before the Institute, I had no idea
how to use Holocaust material in kindergarten.
- One of the most valuable things about
this institute was that it gave me ideas on how to use the material in
my classroom.
- I will not be afraid to broach the
subject now that I have kid-friendly ways to present the information.
- This is one of the best institutes I
have ever attended.
- We were treated like intelligent
professionals. This is not always the case
in teacher training.
- A thought-provoking introduction into
the whole issue. Great sharing and
information collection. Plenty of time for
us to discuss and ask questions.
- Please keep the group small. I appreciated having the chance to talk as
well as listen.
- The presentation was amazing. I am, forever changed by this institute.
- I learned more history this week than
in my whole time as a student in high school.
- It was very hands-on, fast paced and
informative. The instructors did a
wonderful job.
- I liked having two professors, one
from history and one from education. They
provided so much more than any one professor could have.
